Stampin' Up! Bee My Valentine ~ Sketch Saturday

Hello & Welcome!  Today's card was created for Sketch Saturday's Challenge #749.  This is the first day of the challenge and you have two weeks to play along. (Challenge ends May 4th).  The optional twist for this card challenge is to use a trio of something.  The patterned paper I use includes a trio of flowers!  I also used 3 colors for the background: Sweet Sorbet, Basic White and Balmy Blue.

I enjoyed this challenge because it made me think outside of my normal go to style of card design!  When I'm stuck in a rut, sketch challenges are are a great way for me to get inspired to try something new.  I hope they help you as well!

I have not finished the inside of this card yet. Do you have any ideas for me? I just can't seem to decide what type of 'Happy Day' this one should be ready for.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog today!  I hope you are able to play along with this month's sketch.  Don't forget to visit the original blog post at Sketch Saturday to find even more inspiration from the rest of the Sketch Saturday Design Team.

Happy Stamping!

Stampin' Up! Circle Sayings FUN FOLD ~ Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to my blog!  I'm so happy to be joining the Stamping Inspirations Blog Hop today.  I love being a part of these fun Blog Hops with other stampers sharing what we love and create!  Links to all the other blog posts for this hop are near the end of this post - be sure to check them out!  Hopefully you will be as inspired as I always am seeing what everyone else creates for this month's challenge.

This month our challenge was to create a New to Us Fun Fold.  I don't make a ton of Fun Folds, but they are something I am wanting to try more of this year, so this challenge was perfect!  I think the hardest part was decided which Fun Fold to try!  I am loving this Slide & Lock Fun Fold Design and can see many more of these in my future.

One of my favorite things about this design is it's use of a square panel as the focal point, which doubles as the sliding and locking mechanism.  I always like the idea of square cards, but want them to fit perfectly in a standard envelope. So, I love it when I find a card design that lets me easily adapt square cards to not really be square anymore.  Make sense?

The other thing I love about this design is that it is all easy cuts and scoring that I do with my normal Paper Trimmer.  Nothing crazy here!
The Card Base was cut to 4-1/4" x 11" (standard dimensions), then scored at 2-3/4" from each end, to make a standard card base.  I did cut a sliver (about 1/16") off of the right side to make room for the slide.
The DSP was cut to 4" x 2-1/2", 4" x 2-7/16" and 3-1/4" x 3-1/4".
I also cut four Lost Lagoon panels 3-1/2" x 3-1/2".  Two of these I scored down the middle (1-3/4"), then folded in half.

I can't wait to make more of these Slide & Lock Fun Fold Cards.  Not only that, but I'm so excited to see what other fun folds I can learn from the other crafters in this Blog Hop!  Click the image below to hop along to the next blog for more inspiration.

Happy Stamping!
